Sea Eagles prop Martin Taupau has gone down injured in the very first tackle of his team’s clash against the Knights.
Halfback Daly Cherry-Evans cleaned up a bouncing ball handing it off to the Manly enforcer who rolled over, clearly in pain after a Chris Randall and Daniel Saifiti tackle.
“He is in pain, he has been doubled up there Marty Taupau, my goodness,” commentator Andrew Voss said.

“It was strong contact from young Randall over the top, but not a lot in it,” Fox League’s Michael Ennis said.
“I am struggling to find, for big Marty to be in so much pain, it seems more than just a burner doesn’t it,” Voss replied.
The Knights young gun hooker was then placed on report, shocking both commentators.
“He is on report, what for?” Ennis asked.

“This is a stunning start to the game, so Randall on report… the circumstances of the injury, now Marty staggers to hit feet and high tackle is played,” Voss said.
“That is remarkable, and I can only go from vision we are showing you but there is no concerns for concussion.”
Taupau failed to return to the field, but was spotted celebrating with one arm while his side recorded a 30-6 victory during a wet encounter at McDonald Jones Stadium.
