Rugby league great Laurie Daley has defended Junior Paulo’s tackle on AJ Brimson.
Paulo was put on report and sin-binned on Saturday night after the referee deemed that the Eels prop made contact with Brimson’s head.
Although Brimson stayed down after the brutal shot, the Titans playmaker assured Paulo that it was his shoulder that troubled him — not his head.

Paulo was hit with a Grade 2 high tackle charge and will miss one match with an early guilty plea or two if he chooses to fight the charge and is unsuccessful at the judiciary.
The likes of Michael Ennis, Corey Parker and Cooper Cronk thought Paulo didn’t deserve to get sin-binned and now Daley has weighed in on the controversial decision too.
“I’ve watched it a number of times and to me it’s shoulder on shoulder and it’s just a good physical tackle,” Daley told Sky Sports Radio’s Big Sports Breakfast.
“We haven’t got the advantage of what the match review (committee) are looking at and what the bunker have with their high definition televisions and big screens and everything that they’ve got at their disposal.

“But watching it on Saturday night and then again I watched it a number of times, I tried to slow it down on Sunday morning, I just thought it was a good hit and it was a whiplash action that got Brimson into trouble.
“I don’t think he made contact with the head at all.
“It was a brutal hit and he’s a much bigger man than AJ Brimson but I just thought it was a good hit.
“And then I thought during the game what’s he been sent to the sin bin for?
“For me that was just a tackle you want to see in the game. If he makes contact with his shoulder and Brimson’s head — Brimson’s knocked out.”
