Broncos prop Keenan Palasia and Panthers fullback Dylan Edwards have both seen sin binned for open hand strikes early in the second half of their Friday night clash.

After taking the ball into the line and receiving a penalty, Edwards shot up and got in the ear of the Brisbane enforcer.

Palasia turned around and struck Edwards, rocking his head back before the Penrith fullback returned fire.

A scuffle ensued and referee Adam Gee sent both players to the bin for an “open hand strike”.

The Broncos were left without one of their first choice props, with Palasia off the field and Payne Haas suspended.

The impact wasn’t nearly as crucial for the Panthers, with Stephen Crichton moving back into the role, having played in the No.1 in 2021.

“Old blokes crying at the moment, the way the game has changed, but that is the modern day one-on-one stoush,” Fox League commentator Andrew Voss said.

“That is the modern day one-on-one and they have both gone to the bin for 10.”

The Broncos began strong at BlueBet Stadium but the Panthers burst back, compounded by a Taylan May try from a Nathan Cleary kick.

The Blues halfback saw space out wide, stabbing a kick in front of his young gun winger who managed to stick his left hand out and reel the ball in to score his seventh try in four games.
