The Wests Tigers have gone from rock bottom to top of the world in a matter of weeks.

And after constant scrutiny to open the year, Michael Maguire finally had the opportunity to take a cheeky shot of his own.

After all, having toppled the Parramatta Eels and South Sydney Rabbitohs in two-straight weeks, Maguire certainly had plenty of reasons to feel chuffed with his team’s turnaround.

“I think we need to thank you guys.” Maguire said.

“For three or four weeks we were absolutely under the pump and has brought this group together in a way that I haven’t seen so.

“They have they’ve supported each other and it’s not nice when you’re going through those periods but at the end of the day we’ve gone through it and come out the other side to be a lot tighter and you see that in the change rooms and I see it at training every single day.”

It did not go unnoticed by Fox League’s Braith Anasta.

“Michael Maguire very complementary of all of us, the media, building some resilience,” he said.

“Myself and Kenty can take a lot of credit for this one.”

The latest nail biting win came on the back Tigers’ half Luke Brooks, drilling a field goal with a minute to spare to take the lead.

After enduring endless amounts of criticism, Brooks’ performance silenced those critics, proving his worth in the number six jersey.

“Credit to Brooksy you won’t see it.” James Tamou said.

“I’ve constantly sent him messages after a game or things like that and he’s just ‘thanks mate’ or he’ll come into training and it’s just normal.

“I know he’s got a good support system with his family and friends with some of the stuff that’s happened but for us to do a job for 80 minutes like Madge was talking about.

“We’ve had glimpses of it but to do an 80 minute job for Brooksy, for our halves, for everyone, for the fans is just unreal and like Madge said you’ve got to keep going.”

The Tigers started the 2022 season with five losses on the trot, however back-to-back wins against the Eels and Rabbitohs have proven the Tigers can keep up with the anyone.

“With the boys it’s a close-knit group, people talk about this word culture and throw it around but you’ll never find a better group of blokes.” Tamou said.

“Everyone’s coming to training put their best foot forwards and loving it.”
