Roosters’ coach Trent Robinson has taken accountability following his side’s 16-12 loss to the Bulldogs on Saturday night.

The Roosters look a shadow of the premiership contenders they were tipped to be this season, with halves Luke Keary and Sam Walker in particular coming under scrutiny.

“There’s no secret their halves are struggling,” Braith Anasta said on Fox League after the Bulldogs defeat.

Robinson though took it upon himself to accept responsibility for both the issues in the halves and side as a whole.

“I feel for most of the guys,” Robinson said.

“I know they’re working really hard and they’re sort of going why isn’t this coming together and that’s on the coach and that’s the job is to put it together.

“You guys can see that the guys are working hard otherwise you’d see guys dropping off and not working on kick chases or not working behind the ball.

“That’s sort of all the work’s there, I haven’t found the key to put them together yet.

“We’ve identified the areas but I’ve just got to find a way. That’s the coaches role to get these guys, they’re working really hard and he’s in good form I’ve just got to get other guys to be in good form and play with him.”

The three-time premiership winning coach admitted this was a predicament he is far too familiar with.

“It’s not the first time I’ve felt like this,” Robinson conceded.

“I’ve felt like this way too many times.

“The responsibility is for me to get it right.

“These guys need to go home, sleep well and recover and I need to walk back in with some answers for them.”

Robinson has told reporters earlier in the week that the halves struggles were on him, declaring it was his “responsibility” to find a solution.

“[Keary’s chemistry with the team] is on us coaches,” Robinson said.”I actually feel like individually he’s defending really well … kicking well … attacking quite well too.”But it’s up to me as a coach to put [Keary and Walker] together.”

“That’s my responsibility … all the boys are ready to go with a bit more work from myself and the coaches.”
