MONTREAL — Hours before the CFL Draft gets underway, the Montreal Alouettes appear to have made a major move.

The Als have reportedly acquired the first overall pick in this year’s draft, sending the Edmonton Elks the fourth overall pick along with the drafted rights to National OL Carter O’Donnell.

Herb Zurkowsky of the Montreal Gazette first broke the news with TSN’s Farhan Lalji following up with the details on O’Donnell.

The Alouettes drafted O’Donnell 22nd overall in 2020. The six-foot-five, 313-pound tackle signed with the Indianapolis Colts on April 29, 2020 and has spent the past two years with the club on the practice roster and on reserve/future contracts. He was a first-team U SPORTS All-Canadian in 2019, his final season with the Golden Bears.
