It’s been revealed former Footy Show star Darryl Brohman raged at The Daily Telegraph’s Phil Rothfield — prompting a walk out during their radio show.

As first reported by News Corp Australia, Rothfield has opened up on the previously undisclosed moment he walked out on the 2GB show moments before a live broadcast as a result of the popular rugby league personality giving him a serve in studio surrounding revelations NRL icon Andrew Johns and former Channel 9 presenter Erin Molan were not on speaking terms.

Molan and Johns have never spoken publicly to confirm spiralling rumours the pair refused to work together. Molan was at the time shifted from the Friday Night NRL match-coverage team while Johns remained in his role as lead analyst.

Johns has also made a comeback to the Sunday Footy Show this year — coinciding with Molan’s departure from hosting the show.

It’s now been revealed the reported squabble was at the centre of Rothfield’s decision to walk out on 2GB’s Continuous Call Team in 2019 out of concern he would have ”blown up” during the broadcast.

Rothfield said on The Daily Telegraph’s NRL Podcast this week Brohman, a former colleague of Molan on The Footy Show, gave him a serve over his reporting of the falling out between Johns and Molan.

“I had history at 2GB, I stormed out and dropped the headset one day,” Rothfield said.

“I had done a story on Erin Molan and Andrew Johns’ refusal to work together.

“It became quite a major story and Darryl Brohman didn’t like it.

“Just as we are about to go on air he gave it to me and it was quite heavy. So I took the headset off and walked out.”

The Fox League personality summed up his current relationship with Brohman by saying: “He is a former member of our coffee club”.

Molan is pressing ahead with her jam-packed schedule this year, headlined by her feature appearances on Sky News Australia and her breakfast radio show in Sydney.

She is also writing a popular, regular column for Sydney’s Daily Telegraph newspaper.

Molan is looking to put her challenging 2021 behind her as she endured a year from hell, which included her split from fiance Sean Ogilvy, her father, Liberal Senator Jim Molan, being diagnosed with prostate cancer, and her sudden departure from Nine.

The 39-year-old had been engaged to homicide Detective Ogilvy since 2017, and the couple welcomed daughter Eliza the following year.

Her split from Nine came just days after reports first emerged she had been offered a downgraded contract extension — the result of her hectic schedule and clashing projects.

It was reported at the time Molan was shifting to a less lucrative role where she would present the sport bulletin during the 6pm news on Friday and Saturday nights.

However, just a few days later it emerged she had made a decision to leave the network after more than 10 years.
