Experienced Melbourne Rebels utility back Reece Hodge heads a list of eight players with Wallabies experience named in Australia A’s squad for next month’s Pacific Nations Cup in Fiji.

Hodge – a notable omission from Australia’s 35-man squad for next month’s series against England – is joined by other capped Wallabies Feleti Kaitu’u, Tom Robertson, Fraser McReight, Lalakai Foketi, Filipo Daugunu, Ned Hanigan and Harry Johnson-Holmes in a 29-man Australia A squad to be coached by Jason Gilmore.

“Looking at some of the names included in the squad it is apparent that the depth within Australian rugby continues to grow and I think our inclusion in the Pacific Nations Cup will be beneficial,” Gilmore said.

Australia A’s Cup campaign consists of meetings with Samoa (July 2), Fiji (July 9) and Tonga (July 16).

The Queensland Reds and NSW Waratahs each have nine players in the squad.

The rest of the squad is made up of six players from the Western Force, three from the Brumbies and two from the Rebels.

“The team has a good combination of experienced and young players and I think the team will get a lot out of the upcoming tournament in Fiji,” Gilmore said.
