NEW DELHI: The government on Saturday expressed concern over reports of proposed restrictions to the US H-1B visa program, emphasising the potential implications for skilled talent mobility and bilateral ties.In a statement, the official spokesperson said the government is studying the full impact of the measure, noting that Indian industry has already released an initial analysis clarifying some perceptions related to the H-1B program.“Industry in both India and the US has a stake in innovation and creativity and can be expected to consult on the best path forward,” the statement said, highlighting the importance of collaboration between the two countries. The government said that skilled talent exchanges have contributed significantly to technology development, innovation, economic growth, and competitiveness in both nations. Policymakers, it said, will assess recent steps in the context of mutual benefits, including the strong people-to-people ties between India and the United States. The spokesperson also flagged the humanitarian impact of the move, particularly the disruption it could cause to families, and expressed hope that US authorities would address these issues suitably.
