With the last WPL mega auction being conducted three seasons ago, this will be a mega auction, which is likely to involve a complete reshuffle of the squads. Currently, there are five teams in the WPL and a maximum squad size of 18 players, so nearly 90 players are expected to be auctioned, with a few premier player retained by their franchises. As reported earlier, the fourth season of the Women’s Premier League is set to be held in January 2026. Normally, the WPL is held in the February-March window, but this time, the tournament’s scheduling is likely to be advanced to ensure that it’s completed before the Men’s 2026 T20 World Cup, which will be hosted by India and Sri Lanka in February-March.
