Hayaghat Election Results 2025 Highlights: Strong 65.40% voter turnout recorded; exit polls suggest advantage for NDA

NEW DELHI: The Hayaghat Assembly constituency in Bihar, a general category seat and part of the 243-member state legislature, recorded a voter turnout of 65.40 per cent in the ongoing Assembly elections. Statewide, Bihar witnessed a record participation of 66.91 per cent, reflecting a strong engagement across constituencies. Hayaghat, which falls under the Darbhanga district, has been a closely watched seat due to its history of alternating party control. The constituency is currently represented by BJP’s Ram Chandra Prasad, who won the 2020 election by a margin of 10,252 votes. He secured 67,030 votes (46.86 percent), defeating RJD’s Bhola Yadav, who garnered 56,778 votes (39.69 percent). In the previous election in 2015, JD(U)’s Amar Nath Gami had emerged victorious with 65,677 votes (53.32 percent), defeating LJP’s Ramesh Choudhary, who received 32,446 votes (26.34 percent).

In 2020, Hayaghat had 2,42,053 registered voters, of which 1,43,051 turned out to cast their ballots, marking a 59.13 percent participation rate. The constituency’s demographic composition includes 40,713 Scheduled Caste voters (16.82 percent), 41,875 Muslim voters (17.30 percent), and 29,046 Yadav voters (12 percent). The electorate expanded to 2,55,322 by the 2024 parliamentary elections.Bihar recorded an all-time high voter turnout of 66.91 percent, the highest in the state’s electoral history.For Bihar assembly elections, Hayaghat constituency remains a significant seat to watch, with both the BJP and RJD aiming to strengthen their foothold in Darbhanga’s politically active landscape.
