Aditya Dhar’s ‘Dhurandhar’ has been rewriting box office history ever since it hit theatres. The film is now on its way to touch Rs 550 crore at the box office. Apaart from the box office success, ‘Dhurandhar’ is the talk of the town and the internet cannot stopping about it. People are loving the film’s performances and narrative, it’s the music which has gotten so popular. Right from Akshaye Khanna’s entry song, ‘FA9LA’ to ‘Shararat’. Choreographed by Vijay Ganguly, ‘Shararat’ features Ayesha Khan and Krystle D’Souza and has become a talking point among audiences. The song has gotten popular and recently, one saw Nick Jonas grooving to it, leaving the internet surprised. But did you know that Tamannaah Bhatia was the first choice for it. Choreographer Vijay Ganguly revealed that in a recent interview, and said that the idea of having Tamannaah for the song was rejected by Aditya Dhar. Explaining the director’s thought process, Vijay said in an interview with Filmygyan, “In my head, she was (the one). I had suggested her, but Aditya was very clear that he did not want what people call an item song, something that went out of the story. If it were just about one girl, it would have taken attention away from the story.”
He further elaborated on why the song featured two performers instead of one, saying, “That’s why there are two girls, not one. He didn’t want the attention to be about this one person. If it were Tamannaah, it would’ve been about her and not the story.” He also added, “Jo ho raha tha film mein, there was a lot going on, and if you go away from the story, then the song is just a cut-to song.”Meanwhile, ‘Dhurandhar’ continues its dream run at the box office, unfazed by competition from major Hollywood releases such as ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’. The spy thriller has already amassed ₹516.5 crore in India and shows no signs of slowing down.The Ranveer Singh-led film has now emerged as the second fastest Indian movie to cross the ₹500 crore mark domestically, achieving the milestone in just 16 days. It trails only ‘Pushpa 2’, which reached the figure in 11 days. Among Hindi films, ‘Dhurandhar’ has set a new benchmark, overtaking ‘Jawan’, which took 18 days to enter the elite club.The film follows the journey of Hamza, an Indian intelligence operative who infiltrates Karachi’s criminal underworld to foil dangerous plots orchestrated by the ISI. Alongside Ranveer Singh, the cast includes Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi and R Madhavan in key roles.
