AGRA: A 45-year-old computer teacher was shot dead in a late-night attack on the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) campus on Wednesday when he was out on an evening walk with friends. According to Imran (who was walking along with Danish), one of the assailants told him, “You don’t know me yet, now you will,” before firing.The attackers fled the scene immediately after the shooting. The victim, identified as Rau Danish Ali, had been working as a computer teacher at the university’s ABK High School for over a decade.Ali was shot at close range near the Maulana Azad Library around 9pm and was rushed to JNMC Medical College, where he succumbed to his injuries.Imran, who was walking along with Ali, said that the attackers said, “Don’t know me yet, now you will know who I am,” before firing. Ali fell on the ground after being hit by a bullet near the ear.After the incident, the police reached the spot and barricaded the crime scene. As per the details, the accused came on a two-wheeler. SSP Aligarh Neeraj Kumar Jadaun said, “The incident happened at around 9 pm, when 2 unknown persons shot Danish. Police immediately attended to the information, and he was taken to the hospital, where he was declared dead. The crime scene has been examined. The police will soon arrest the person responsible for this incident. So far, it’s not known who carried out the incident. I just had a conversation with the family, and they said that, according to them, it appears that the attackers are known to the victim. Every aspect will be investigated, and this incident will be solved. Currently, it’s known that he was a teacher at school. The 2 attackers haven’t been identified yet. He used to teach children. I spoke to the doctor, and currently there’s 1 bullet that hit above the ear.”According to the family members of Ali, he was planning to go on umrah in future, but before that, this incident happened.
