Actress Kalpana Iyer recently returned to the limelight after videos of her performing at a family’s wedding went viral. The ‘Rambo Ho’ star revisited the iconic song and got up on stage with the same energy and zeal to dance to the song. After garnering a lot of praise for the video, the star sat down for an interview to talk about the success and what she has been up to.
Kalpana Iyer is all set and ready to return to work
While talking to India Today, about the same and going viral for her iconic dance moves, the 70-year-old star revealed that after her song’s remix featured on ‘Dhurandhar,’ she found a lot of attention on her. She revealed that many people reached out to her after the film was released in theaters, telling her that they remembered her after watching the film. Many also congratulated her for the song’s revival.She continued that she hopes that the virality of her dancing video will help her land some roles. She cited that she has never been closed off to working in new films; however, roles stopped coming altogether after her feature in ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain.’She further added, “When people are casting for certain kinds of roles, I would like them, once in a while, to consider me. I am open to work; I have never said I don’t want to. All I have ever asked for are roles that are age-appropriate. At this stage of my life, I don’t think I would look right wearing shorts—it would look forced and even funny. I don’t need a big role. Even a one-minute part, if it suits my age, why would I say no?”

Further in the interview, the star also added how grateful she is to Aditya Dhar for choosing the song for ‘Dhurandhar.’ She adds, “How can I not be grateful to him? If a film revives a song in such a way that the younger generation is humming it, for me, it’s nothing short of divine. At 70, to see my song go viral again, who could have imagined that? It’s fabulous.”

It has been 27 years since Kalpana Iyer last appeared on the big screen. Her last role was in the Tamil-language film ‘Kadhalar Dhinam’ in 1999. The story revolves around two people who fall in love through a chat room; things start to fall apart when the guy finds out who he has been talking to this whole time.
