Delhi blast: AIU suspends Al-Falah University’s membership; says institution ‘not in good standing’ | India News
NEW DELHI: The Association of All Indian Universities (AIU) suspended Al-Falah University’s membership on Thursday after its doctors were detained in the Delhi blast case.In an official notification, the university cited a ‘lack of good standing’ for the suspension.
It said, “as per the Bye-laws of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), all universities shall be treated as members as long as they remain in good standing. However, as per media reports, it has come to notice that Al-Falah University, Faridabad, Haryana, does not appear to be in good standing. Accordingly, the membership of AIU accorded to Al-Falah University, Faridabad, Haryana stands suspended with immediate effect.“

Following this, the Al-Falah University, Faridabad, Haryana, is not authorised to use the name or logo of AIU in any of its activities, the notification further said.The university has also been served a show-cause notice by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) for continuing to claim accreditation despite failing to meet mandatory renewal requirements.A high-intensity blast in a parked Hyundai i20 car near the Red Fort Metro Station on Monday evening left 12 people dead and several people injured.
