Director Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar has etched its name into Indian box office history by crossing Rs 500 crore mark in Hindi cinema in just 16 days.In doing so, the Ranveer Singh-led spy actioner has overtaken Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, which had taken 18 days to breach the same landmark, setting a new benchmark for Bollywood releases.The fastest film to cross Rs 500 crore mark in Hindi in Sukumar and Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule which took just 11 days to cross the magical Rs 500 crore mark. Pushpa 2 also went on to become the highest grossing film on Indian cinema by the end of its theatrical run.
For context, Jawan directed by Atlee and starring Shah Rukh Khan, had previously set the pace for Hindi cinema by crossing Rs 500 crore net in 18 days before finishing its run at Rs 582.25 crore. Dhurandhar, however, achieved the feat two days quicker, underlining its momentum and audience love.In the first week the film had collected Rs 207.25 crore but in Week 2 the film collected more than its first week collection. In the 2nd week the Aditya Dhar directorial venture minted Rs 253.25 crore. And after 2 days of the third weekend the film’s total collection stands at Rs 516.5 crore making it the 12th biggest hit of Indian cinema.The buzz for the film is also strong in North America where it has become the 10th biggest Indian film of all time with USD 10.81 million collection. Dhurandhar also features Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan Gaurav Gera, Rakesh Bedi and Sara Arjun. The makers are currently working on getting the film dubbed in southern languages and are planning to release the film before the New Year down south. The second installment of Dhurandhar is slated to release on 19th March 2026 where it will clash with Yash of KGF fame’s Toxic. The makers of Toxic released the first look of Kiara Advani from the film on Sunday morning.
