‘There was blood all around’: Teenager goes on knife rampage at Russian university; Indian among 8 injured
At least eight people, including an Indian national, were injured in a stabbing attack in Russia’s Bashkortostan Republic on Saturday.According to local media reports, a teenager armed with a knife entered the sports hall of a foreign students’ hostel at a medical university and attacked students living there.“The attacker resisted arrest, during which two police officers were stabbed. Furthermore, the suspect also inflicted bodily harm on himself,” Russia’s interior ministry spokesperson Maj Gen Irina Volk said.The identities and nationalities of the students were not officially disclosed. However, Telegram channel 112, quoting eyewitnesses, said at least one of the victims was Indian and claimed there were two attackers.The attacker, identified as a 15-year-old, has been admitted to a local children’s hospital in serious condition. Four students and two police officers were admitted to a local clinical hospital, Baza Telegram channel reported.Eyewitnesses said there was “blood all around,” Ren TV reported, airing footage of the injured being taken to hospital in ambulances.
