Union Budget 2026: Rs 95,692.31cr allocated for VB-G RAM G, Jal Jeevan Mission outlay raised to Rs 67,670cr
As the Centre prepares to roll out the Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Rozgar Aajeevika Mission (Grameen) (VB-G RAM G), it has allocated Rs 95,692.31 crore for the new scheme, while earmarking Rs 30,000 crore for the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA).Allocation for MGNREGA is shown at Rs 30,000 crore for 2026-27, lower than Rs 88,000 crore in 2025-26 revised estimates.The VB-G RAM G, which promises 125 days of employment in a year, will replace the two-decade-old rural employment programme introduced under the MGNREGA Act, 2005. According to officials in the Rural Development Ministry, MGNREGA will continue until the new scheme is fully implemented and all pending works are completed.The Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) allocation is placed at Rs 67,670 crore for 2026-27, marginally higher than the 2025-26 Budget Estimate of Rs 67,000 crore. Allocation for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G) is proposed at Rs 54,917 crore, compared with Rs 32,500 crore in 2025-26 Revised Estimates. The Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) allocation is shown at Rs 19,200 crore for 2026-27, up from Rs 16,000 crore in 2025-26 Revised Estimates, while Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) is proposed at Rs 19,000 crore, compared with Rs 11,000 crore in the 2025-26 revised estimates. The Department of Land Resources has been allocated Rs 2,654.33 crore for 2026–27. In 2025–26, the department received an allocation of Rs 2,651 crore, while the revised estimates place actual expenditure at Rs 1,757.4 crore.
